Privacy policy

This website is run by the Mount Vernon on the Potomac Citizens Association (“the Association”). The short version: we only use your information to run your account so you can use the site. We never sell it, and we don't track you.

What we collect

• Your email address and password when you create an account. Passwords are stored in a scrambled form that no one can read, including us.
• If you save a passkey (Face ID, Touch ID, or a device PIN), we store only its public key. Your fingerprint or face never leaves your device.
• Anything you choose to submit, such as Neighbor Chat posts or marina reservation requests.
• Resident directory details that the Association provides for members.

How we use it

• To sign you in and show you the member area.
• To send account emails, such as password resets. We don't send marketing email.
• To pass marina reservation requests to the harbormaster.

What we don't do

• We don't sell, rent, or trade your information, and we don't share it for marketing.
• We don't run ads, analytics, tracking pixels, or any third-party trackers.
• Member-only information, like access codes and the directory, is never shown to people who aren't signed in.

Cookies

We use one sign-in cookie, which keeps you signed in for up to a year. The sign-in page also sets a security cookie used for passkey sign-in, which expires within five minutes. That's all. If you tap “Maybe later” on the passkey offer, your browser remembers that choice on your device only.

Who else handles data

Cloudflare hosts the website and delivers its emails. It processes data only to provide those services for the Association.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Email website@mountvernononthepotomac.com.

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. See also our terms of service.
